Natural materials called agricultural biologicals are employed in agriculture to control pests, promote plant development, and improve soil quality. These comprise biostimulants (substances that stimulate plant development and stress resilience), biofertilizers (microbes that improve nutrient availability), biopesticides (natural pest control), and biocontrol agents (organisms that naturally inhibit pests). Examples include the use of mycorrhizal fungi for nutrient uptake, Rhizobium bacteria for nitrogen fixation, and Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) for pest control. By lowering dependency on chemical inputs, minimising environmental damage, and fostering healthier crops and soils, these biologicals help sustainable agriculture.
